yahoo bought tumblr and the tumblranians are mad about it. Guess we are all aware of that yahoo is nowadays just another kind of enemy of creative niches like we appreciated our tumblr to be one. Although yahoo once used to be a fresh creative company on its own, it is now rather a forgotten “gossip supermarket” which desperately wants to be “in” and “well-known” again. Money can´t buy good image! The two founder of tumblr finally made money out of their idea and we user have to be a micro part in the yahoo maze. Not so great. tumblr used to be a free site for “not so sane” aka unique, weird, creative and harmless but worldwide networkers, and now we are sold. For me it may be a reason to leave this place. Isn´t it sad that some people with money can grab whatever they want and that those rare who have fresh creative ideas can be sold off? yahoo, go back being a searching engine and leave the rest alone. It is not really attractive to others if a company becomes a supermarket which includes too many different things.
FYI we user are not all 13-24yr and we are not all pervs and run pervy blogs!!! But yes, we are worldwide connected and yes we are millions of people!! And yes Yahoo-hoo~, you have been in the news again!! *fake congrats for this*
I found a lot of new contacts to other people that I would have never found w/o tumblr just because we are unique.
For me tumblr was always a creative niche. Why do companies take all the independency of the little man away? Should I be happy that the tumblr founder made money? I can understand that the teenager that run tumblr blogs are unsure of what they should think about yahoo, because yahoo is too old for those to know them. Isn´t it the reason for “granny” companies that used to reach the young generation are desperatly searching for the new contact to even this 13yr -24yr old? yahoo, you are making a clown out of yourself with buying tumblr, it is like the parents would run it and the kids need new niches. And with saying that tumblr has copyright issues… you are just being obvious showing off the reason why you bought us. Isn´t it that yahoo owns a lot of copyrights already? Are you afraid of us?
